A media project made outside of a media class
Comedy is a focus for much of my work, but I also created this mini-documentary about a topic near and dear to my heart. Made for my Women and Gender Studies course, this doc discusses non-binary people and the ways in which modern society on and offline respond and react to them. Non-binary people are just one facet of the complex and wonderfully diverse gender-nonconforming community but their voices are often ignored due to their small number and the way they challenge entrenched social perceptions of gender expression.
Video production work with Elijah Darden-
This is an official music video for the song “Earl’s Interlude”, a comedy rap track off the EP discussed in the adjoining interview. It isn’t cinema, but it was a lot of fun to shoot and show to the rest of the guys he worked with (all friends of mine from my 2019-20 semester).
This was a converged project between my audio production and video production classes. It is an interview about the grad school experience and the recording of a rap EP by Elijah and other good friends of mine. I received footage from Elijah and from his collaborator and my friend, Marcos Carranza of their recording process.
My solo podcast- The Chunk Zone
In my personal time, between life and work, I sometimes found time to journey down into a makeshift basement studio and record a movie/TV criticism podcast. Entitled The Chunk Zone, the show is an occasionally revisited project started in 2021 with the release of the “1000 Ways to Die” episode. The Chunk Zone is available to stream on all major podcast platforms!
